In the classic VW Beetle, the heater channel is a crucial component for both body stability and the heating system. The heater channels run beneath the doors on both sides, directing warm air from the engine compartment into the front cabin. Inside, there is a tube (on later models only) that channels heat forward, while the outer shell supports the body and connects it to the chassis pan.

This means: If your heater channels are rusty, dented, or poorly made, the entire restoration suffers.
