Replacing the generator pulley will be necessary in most cases when you have bent the old one during disassembly, or when the pulley nut has not been tightened properly (60 Nm.), causing play and breaking of the two halves.
But for most of us, aesthetics will be the most important argument, a rusty dynamo pulley is not a good business card.
Before ordering a pulley, take a look at your generator or alternator and measure the diameter if necessary, it's an important data for the good choice of the pulley.
Between the pulley halves there are adjustment rings. By removing or adding adjusting rings, the V-belt can be put under tension. If you can press the V-belt about 1.5 cm with your thumb, the tension is correct.
Also check the options tab and order a set of adjusting rings and possibly a new key. The key is located in the shaft of the dynamo and secures the pulley on the shaft.
Available in black, galvanized or chrome, depending on the model. The black version has a very high quality powder coating. It is advisable to remove the powder coating on the inside where the dynamo shaft slides, so that the mounting on the dynamo shaft is smooth. This is not necessary for the chrome and galvanized version.
